Python is a high level language. Python is very highly readable language as it uses English key words frequently. Python is developed by Guido van Rossum at National Research Institute for Mathematics and Computer Science in early nineties.
Some python features are easy to learn, easy to read, easy to maintain, portable, interactive mode, scalable etc.
Apart from these features Python also has a good list of features as it supports functional and structured methods as well as object oriented programming, it can be used as scripting language, it supports automatic garbage collection and it can be easily integrated with other languages.
